Frotteurism - Causes, Symptoms & Treatment


Frotteurism is a disorder in which a person derives sexual pleasure or gratification from rubbing, especially the genitals, against another person. The behavior usually occurs in crowded places, and the individual usually fantasizes an exclusive, caring relationship with the victim. Frotteurism is characterized by either intense sexually arousing fantasies, urges, or behaviors in which the individual touches or rubs against an non-consenting person in a sexual manner. The most commonly practiced form of frotteurism is rubbing one's genitals against the victim's thighs or buttocks. A common alternative is to rub one's hands over the victim's genitals or breasts. Symptoms of this disorder include is having intense sexual desires, fantasies, or behaviors that involve touching and rubbing against someone who does not consent to this behavior. These fantasies and behaviors happen over and over for at least 6 months. and fantasizing that they have caring relationship with the victim, but try to escape after touching the victim.
